NXT plc appoints Chris Travis as Chief Technology Officer
9 August 2010: I am pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Travis as Chief Technology Officer with immediate effect.
Chris brings 25 years of electronics engineering experience, including 8 years with the BBC and 14 years as a consultant specialising in audio applications. In recent years he has worked with Meridian Audio (high-end Hi-Fi), TC Electronic (Pro-Audio) and Wolfson Microelectronics (hand-held consumer electronics). He was CTO at Audium Semiconductor prior to its technology acquisition by NXT in April 2010, and joined NXT as technology manager at that time. Chris’s technical publications and patents span topics ranging from DSP algorithm development to multichannel audio interfacing and surround-sound psychoacoustics. He has a First Class BA (Hons) degree and MA from Cambridge University, where he specialised in electronic systems, control theory, economics and acoustics.
Chris was a major contributor to MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface Alliance) working with Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Intel, and others to define the audio interface standard known as ‘SLIMbus’ for next generation mobile phones.
As CTO Chris will be responsible for technical vision, leadership and standards across NXT’s technology spectrum. He will oversee R&D, and project management, as well as the outward technical representation of the company.
I’d like to welcome Chris into his new position, and I look forward to his contribution to NXT’s future.
James Lewis
